although there is one gold mine in the Puruk Cahu area about 4 hours by road from the town muara Teweh , several coal 
mining companies the fairly large and well-known as AKT Tuhup located in the Muara Tuhup, Leighton which is located in the village jamut , Thies in Haju, and several coal mining developed and owned by individuals.  Muara Teweh resident mostly edged livelihoods as fishermen and traders , but since its Integration mining thrives in  Muara Teweh much some people change their profession as employees of a coal mine . As a small mining town not many attractions ore tour on offer but there is an interesting attraction or tour to visit the fishing campaign pond that is located in the area treheyan tringsing within an hours drive from the city mura Teweh . This place offers dishes fishing and recreational fishing pond fish with natural atmosphere paddies with huts huts or houses built over the pond , here we can be fished with is free of charge and also all the fishing equipment is provided free of charge which consist of small bamboo length , hook fishing rods and pellets as bait fishing , but after fishing the fish that have been collected you are required to pay a price to take home or directly served in place to enjoy , or you can directly place an order dishes to be enjoyed in place .

There is a famous icon fruits in this city which called durian ,in durian season  the price of the durian fruit can be bought on the very cheap in this town is about Rp . 3000 to Rp10 , 000 per piece , this icon is also shown with ​a big durian monument which located in the center of the Muara Teweh City . As a city that is often visited by employees of both coal employees of local and foreign,there is a lot of hotel or motel that very easy to find in this town , but do not expect you to feel the five-star hotel facilities in this town , hotel or motel fare in the city is quite affordable in Muara Teweh which is around Rp100 , 000 to Rp.300 , 000 per night . There is no public transportation available in the city 's , if you want to get around the city you can using privately owned vehicles or the alternative public transport  is to use Ojek or motorcycle taxis , this Ojek fare quite expensive depending on the results of negotiations with the owner
